Well I know that you all are saying "I do not have time for this", "what good is going to come of this", and maybe even "why would I waste my time". Let me explain before you chalk this up as trash can worthy material.
I am conducting a research project and feel that the implementation of the ICU program warrants research.
I, too at first, wanted to know where this would fit on my already over-loaded plate but after discussing and conducting some research on Student Apathy, ICU might actually work at Graham. Ok so what I am asking from you is how you feel about the program-- openly and honestly-- and your opinion will not get back to Admin.
So will you open the channels of communication with me?
First comment... When you hear about "no-zero" grading policies what are your thoughts and feelings?
Ok so I will go first... When I first heard of the no-zero grading policies, I felt anger. If a kid sits in my class and DOES NOTHING why should they get a 50. That would be entitlement-- giving the student without them having to do anything. Not giving them what they deserve gives them a false sense of the professional world in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteAfter conducting research my opinion has changed but that will be a later post.
First impression question is what is this going to entail? Another attempt to hold kids accountable that will fall by the wayside. After doing some light reading of the first few chapters, I changed my mind. And, after seeing the implementation of the program by administration, I think the system is showing some positive results thus far.

ReplyDeleteI, too, was highly hesitant when I heard the phrase. I even argued with the book... good thing it did not answer me. I still do not agree with the statement about the electric company-- they will eventually do turn off your electricity if they do not receive payment and that delinquency will have long term affects on credit scores.
Thanks for posting
Hope to see you again
